Uberti 1848 2nd Model Dragoon 44 Black Powder Revolver 7.5" BarrelPRICE: $479.00Samuel Colt began focusing on military and civilian markets in 1848, with the introduction of the Dragoon and the Pocket Revolver. Eli Whitney, Jr. manufactured the first run of 1848 Dragoons for Colt at his Whitneyville factory in Connecticut. The single action revolver was a transitional model that improved on the Colt Walker. This earliest Dragoon had an improved loading lever, a shorter cylinder, and weighed less. Small improvements continued, separating each of the Dragoon models. Next came the 1st Model Dragoon, with oval bolt slots. The 2nd Model Dragoon used squared cylinder bolt slots. The 3rd Model Dragoon single actions incorporated round trigger guards. As part of its black powder firearms designed for civilians, Colt also introduced pocket revolvers, so named because they easily fit into a coat pocket. With the introduction of the 1849 Wells Fargo Pocket Revolver and 1849 Pocket .31 caliber pistols, Colt's success in the civilian market was assured. SKU: 340810 |
