Robert Wogdon Flintlock Dueling Pistols, Cased Pair, 50 Caliber - Rare Pistols *ca.1790*

This is a pair of cased Robert Wogdon flintlock dueling pistols. They feature 9-inch bores and are chambered in .50 caliber. The top of the barrels is marked "Wogdon London" and the lock plate is marked "Wogdon". Robert Wogdon's major claim to fame is his connection to the legendary duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. The firearms used in this famous showdown were made by Wogden & Barton and many attribute the set-trigger feature to be reason for Hamilton's demise. Like the pistols used in the Hamilton and Burr duel, these feature the same set-trigger feature design. The pistols feature figured full stocks with rounded flat sided butts and caps which feature a seated image of Britannia holding a spear. Overall condition of these pistols is very good, especially considering they are over 200 years old. The metal is in very nice condition with only slight tarnishing, the bores are free of rust or pitting. The wood stocks show some some dings and pressure marks. Mechanically everything works as it should with flints still in place. The fitted case is in very nice condition with green felt lining. The middle section is a bit loose. Included in the case is a bullet mold, cleaning rod and an oiler made by James Dixon & Sons. This is a rare opportunity to own a real piece of American history. Buy only today!
